Why Languages Are Important

I have been very busy recently, what with interviews etc, so I haven’t had a chance to blog much, however, I just wanted to share with you all the presentation I did recently, for an interview task, on why languages are important.

Languages Are Important – this is the handout I gave out.

  1. Hi there, My name is Sandra and I just had a look at the presentation you put together. Some interesting facts. If only other people saw it the same way we do. I’m a teacher of Italian in Australian. We are lucky here in a way as language learning is compulsory to middle school This doesn’t mean that government makes it easy for us. We’re constantly having to battle with funds and keeping numbers up beyond middle school. In the last 10 years there has been an organisation established in Australia with the sole purpose to develop language learning tools to schools. I’ve just bought their professional pack and I can honestly say they are great. Just perfect for my students, who are somewhat hard to keep interested. The good thing about this resource is that it includes games, culture projects, homework sheets etc… The company is called Green Octopus and the special offer is called “Language Teacher Professional Pack”. I bought it off ebay for $325…worth every cent! Not sure if the offer is still valid. Probably is.
