It is only the 2nd of January yet Spain has already seen two major changes. The first is the changes to Spanish spelling that the RAE have decided upon (read about it in Spanish here ) and the second is that Spain has now had to come inline with the rest of Europe and they are not allowed to smoke inside at all – previously some bars and restaurants were allowed to choose if the establishment was smoking or non-smoking.
